Can't find new installed drive, what should I do?
*note, my OS is windows
The Problem
Recently I just bought a nvme ssd for my pc. When plugged in the ssd, I can’t find the new drive.
– I checked it via windows explorer, not found
– I also checked it at bios, not found
I tried googling this problem. some bullsh*t solutions comes up.
Working Solution
The final solution that working for me is I need to setup the drive via Disk Management
- Simply right click windows icon > Disk Management, there’s should be a popup about new drive found
- Check the bottom part of the window, if you already have multiple drive you need to scroll it down a bit
- You will find your new drive as unallocated space
- Right click the unallocated space > New simple volume
- Press next until the process is done
Violla, now you can find your new drive in windows explorer
